Henley Sequence from “The Social Network”
I have never felt so “in awe” toward a scene, which lacks (comprehensible) dialogue, that you (as an audience member) are just dropped into without an explanation, a scene that tells a story, a story of which you haven’t been prepared for, efficiently through faces and metaphors and the stunning score (“In the Hall of the Mountain King”) that is the eloquent brainchild of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The Henley Sequence pulls me away from myself every time that I watch it, and only a few, remarkable scenes can effectively do that. This is one of those “top 5” moments for me. David Fincher is an unfaltering genius. Get inspired.
